Do you know that the smile is the 2nd among the 43 habits of absolutely happy people? And this is not an accident at all, because numerous scientific studies have shown that smile affects many factors in our lives.
The smile increases the attractiveness. Think about people you know well and remind how they look with a smile and without. When you smile, people perceive you as reliable, relaxed and honest. With a smile you look sympathetic, kind and polite. Your charisma is also growing. Therefore most salers are smiling, because it increases their sales. Even when you do not see someone, but only talk on the phone, you can feel whether he or she is smiling with straight backs, or is crroked and without a smile.
During smiling you have a positive influence for others. Everyone likes to receive smiles. As a rule, the smile is contagious and thanks to emotional empathy, also known as feedback, we respond with a smile. In addition, the view of the smiling face activates the observer’s frontal brain, which is responsible for the aword. People willingly stay in the company of smiling people, and are also more willing to do business with them.
In addition, the smile affects not only your external surroundings, but also your level of happiness and contentment. Every time you smile, a little party takes place in your head, and your brain feels mega happy. The brain produces good neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and endorphins, happiness hormones. Dopamine provides energy, motivation and is necessary to change habits. Endorphins reduce pain and cause positive feelings throughout the body. Serotonin, controls the general mood. British scientists have found that one smile stimulates the brain to happiness, like 2000 chocolate bars. Eating such a large amount of chocolate certainly would not be healthy, but smile of course yes, because it reduces stress and blood pressure. Regular smiling improves the immune system, because it increases the production of white blood cells responsible for the formation of antibodies.
Who would have thought that one simple and easy thing like a smile can do so much good: you look better, you improve your mood, give people the feeling of reward, reduce stress, positively affect your health and build better relationships. And what’s the most interesting and the weirdest at the same time, this works not only with real, honest smile, but also artificially created. It may seem strange to smile in a situation not to laugh, but it is worth doing. It will improve our mood and we will start to notice more positives. When you can not artificially create a fake smile on your face, put a pencil between your teeth. Then similar muscles work as with a sincere smile and the mood improves.
There are three main types of smiles:
1. sincere smile – is simetrical. The lips are wide stretched and the corner lifted upwards, the eyes also laugh and wrinkles appear in the outer corners of the eye. Often in this smile we show teeth. We use this type of smile when something honestly laughs to us, for children or people we like.
2. Polite smile – it is also symmetrical, but it is softer extended, definitely without showing teeth and often without engaging the eyes. We use this type of smile for people we do not know much and want to be kind or polite. A variation of this smile can be in stressful situations or when we want to mask nervousness or embarrassment, but we have good intentions.
3. A mocking smile – this is the only one negative smile. It is asymmetrical and the eyes do not show joy, only evil or cunning. We should treat this kind of smile as a warning against the intentions of the interlocutor.
In other cases, the smile is positive and worth frequent use. It is interesting that children are born with this skill and smile while awake and sleepand even some photos of smiling fetuses in my mother’s stomach were taken.
Children generally smile a lot more than adults. British sociologists questioned about 2,000 people and established that optimists smile 7 to 11 times a day, pessimists the maximum once, and 6-year-old children up to 300 times. For me it was very surprising when I found out. The strangest thing is that to smile you need to involve 5 to 17 muscles, and to show sadness up to 47, and yet we smile so little.
A smile can be the beginning of laught. Normally, during inhalation, 0.5 liters of air goes to our lungs, while, when we laugh loudly, up to 1.5. In other words, thanks laughing, we oxygenate the body better.
That’s why I have a surprise for you. Something for health. I chose the most contagious and funny laughs. Surely you will not be able not to smile. If you smiled, leave a smiley face in the commentary, they play the same role as smile in the real world. Thanks.
